Headline: Old school programming techniques you probably don't miss wow. At 36, I didn #39;t think I was old enough to be an old school programmer, but that computer world article only lists things I have done (er, other than the punch cards). I guess starting to program in school, when PC #39;s were things like TRS 80 #39;s leads to having done some stuff :) the Slashdot article has a few extra gems no wonder 'programmers' have a bad reputation.

Headline: new install again this time of foswiki seeing as the TWiki project seems like its trying hard to close its own doors, by making dubious technical choices and marketing and capital funding based decisions, I #39;ve moved to the fork project fosiki. This Wiki is now a test system so I can continue to help make foswiki a strong release. I recon the funnest thing I added to foswiki in the last week, is a more advanced WebSearchAdvanced topic not only can you try out query or regex searches, but it will also display the SEARCH command you need to embed that result into any topic you want.

Headline: upgrading Home.org.au I've upgraded home.org.au to TWiki's trunk (in preparation for fastcgi), and updated to the latest incarnation of .MoveableTypeSkin .WidgetsSkin. .WidgetsSkin not only uses the latest incarnation of Moveable Type's HTML and CSS (and because they are now GPL open source, contains their themes, but begins to add more userfriendly Widget style mini TWikiApps for use in the sidebars. Hopefully there won't be too many glitches along the way.

Headline: easy MTB trails in Northern Sydney After spending so much time in the shadows of the Uetliberg and Zuriberg, I've been missing being able to go for a quick easy offroad mountain bike ride. From Lane Cove, I've finally realised there's plenty around me today for example, I rode to the EasternArterial road entry of the Two Creeks Track which starts off as a fire trail, then changes into a nice easy, low traffic walking track prefect for the beginner MTB rider. It seems to cope well with the wet day we had today too buckets of fun from there to the Roseville bridge, and then an easy ride home. see a nice map by the Ku ring gai Council
